A 6 out 10 isn't crap!!!

Why do people proclaim games that geta score of 6 to be bad when according to the rating scale a 6 is average. Most of the games people enjoy are average. A lot of people find games that score 8 or 9 not for them. Just because a game gets high scores from a game reviewer who is often jaded and often spends less then 20 minutes with the game doesn't mean it is actually good to play. A 6 isn't a D a 7 isn't a c rated game. 3 out of 5 means average. Average!!! A 6 or 7 and even a 5 mean an average game. A 6 out 10 isn't crap!!!

I like Mario Kart 64 and it got 6.9 here. It's only a matter of taste. If you like a games that was rated 6, good for you.
I totally agree I can really enjoy games rated 5-7 for the most part.
I've noticed that an ''average'' game (read 5-7) can and in most cases will be a good game for what it is. The thing that keeps it from being a great game is lack of innovation or deviation from the norm. A game can be a platformer, it could be a really good platformer, one that keeps you coming back to it all the time. But it it doesn't do anything new with the genre, it stays within the safe zones and follows the rules. Games that push limits and try different things get high scores...except our Wii games :P
my opinon is that the rating system is not a set in stone system... I got mario kart 64 for VC and it got a 6.9 here (thanks chris3116) and i remeber it being awsome, but after 2 hours of play, i would give it a 2, there are so many games that get bad ratings that i love and lot's of great ratings that I dis like.... for example... don't get mad at me but Metroid corruption... i played it and i just don't like it... any way don't always listen to what people say.... if i could i would give lots of games a 6 just cause i can.
