What Happened to Donkey Kong?

Am I the only one who remembers the days when Donkey Kong was in good games? We've gone from the revolutionary arcade game to Donkey Kong 64, a true classic, to what? Plastic bongos that you get to hit like a retard pretending to make music. But that's not all, you can also move him around in easy platforming and we get to look forward to shaking a remote in some sort of mario kart rip-off with gamecube graphics on the wii. I almost feel ashamed to be a nintendo fan for once in my life. Donkey Kong can't live on his past forever, come on, Nintendo. What Happened to Donkey Kong?
Your not alone. I want my damn DK platformer. I've been waiting since Gamecube. Nintendo, DELIEVER. What Happened to Donkey Kong?
i gotta admit i havent played a real donkey kong game in quite some time. and i agree with you when you say that nintendo isnt doing the character justice, but i wouldnt go as far and say that iam ashamed of nintendo. they've done alot for gaming and just look at how they've handled Metroid, Zelda, and Mario and iam actually really proud to be nintendo fan.
I 100% agree, Donkey Kong is my favorite Nintendo character and he's slowly fading away. Nintendo is killing the legacy with stupid games that are completely different than the type of games that made his great.
This happened to him:and thisLook what they did to him! *Crys in corner*
I think they should have skipped the bongos in DK jungle beat and made it 3d (as in gameplay like in DK64) the bongos were so freaking pointless
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a very good game, people just don't give it a chance because of the ''controller.''It doesn't have a huge amount of depth to it, but the game is fast paced and definatly worth playing if you want a Donkey Kong 2d adventure with nice graphics (for gamecube)I have Donkey Konga 1 %26 2 and figured I might as well try to get some use out of the bongos so I picked up Jungle Beat.People can say what they want about konga, but its not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. I've had a lot of fun playing it with my step-bros and it can keep my g/f's daughter busy. Course this was all before Guitar Hero completely owned it.

Right, but just imagine how hard that is for nintendo. I mean if Nintendo makes a good game in one of thier franchises people aren't happy, because there are games before it which are just GODLY. Imagine how difficult it is to set the bar for yourself so high you feel like nothing you do will ever be good enough again.I mean, even as awesome as Galaxy and Smash are looking, the previous games in the series (not counting sunshine) were incredible experiences and the bar is very very high for Nintendo to top.I still play Smash Bros Melee to this day, and it was a launch title.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't (as demonstrated by Majoras mask and Sunshine).
Thanks for the support, if we think about it. This can apply to other nintendo franchises as well just not as much, think of starfox and kirby, or what i describe as a major decrease in difficulty in zelda games over the years. Heres hoping Dk get's his old mario-kart-era voice back.

[/QUOTE]I think Nintendo does a good job with it. I mean they do it enough to test the waters. And you have people who complain that its too different and they need to go back to the way it used to be, and when they do that people complain its too similar. (Example - Wind Waker (too different kiddy grfx) Twilight Princess (too similar, not different)
Good post. bump.
I mean good topic lol
i never played a donkey kong game since my i had a n64 and then some1 stole it and never got to finish the game :( but hopefully they can make a 3d donkey kong platformer
Donkey Kong died when Rare left Nintendo.
The series died along with Rare.
:? DK: Jugle Climber gets released this month.
I want a DK platformer.
