How is ownership of Virtual Console game ...

I'm sure Nintendo does something to prevent piracy, so I'm wondering what kind of restrictions are placed on game downloads.How is ownership of Virtual Console game ...

Yeah, they'll transfer them for you onto your new memory. They did that for me when my graphics processor melted.
I bet this has something to do with Goldeneye N64. No-one can really figure it out. Nintendo own all the games apart from a few in which they can buy rights for, a very complicated matter.
Actually you're Wii should still have the info, keep your numbewr and they can trace it. You would need to call Nintendo as soon as possible.
I think that you can transfer VC games onto an SD card, so that may be a good back up plan for VC games.
If you've registered your Wii with Nintendo, they will know which games you downloaded, and will replace them for you if you need it fixed.

The second you fail to own a console you lose rights to any games you purchased.Now what you SHOULD do is go HERE and register your Wii. That gives you many more options should the Wii break or you buy another.Now if you're not registered then if the Wii breaks you have to send it back to Nintendo and they'll fix the console. If you purcahse a new Wii you're also going to have to go through Nintendo to have them tranferred.If you DID register then if your Wii breaks you have the choice to have them send you a new console then swap the Virtual Console games over to the new one (BEFORE you send the broken one back) the same things happens if you buy a new Wii.No matter what register the Wii, as long as that's done there's no way you can ever lose the Virtual Console games.

I wish there was a way for you to play your virtual console games on other systems. The system is real primitive dealing with that aspect.

Sense and the manual should be enough to inform anyone they should contact Nintendo if there is an issue with their wii. Only Nintendo is authorized to do repairs and replacements. Store warranties are a scam plain and simple.

Just call Nintendo say you have vc stuff in your broken wii. They will initate the program that sends you a box to put the broken wii in. They then will try to repair the wii if they cannot they put all the data in the new wii. You must inform as the manual and common sense tells you that Nintendo must be informed there is stuff in the memory you want preserved.Any computer shop will inform that you don't want discs left in the drives and if you want what is on the hard drives you have to tell them otherwise they will lose whatever dvds cds are in the computer as well as what is on the computer.Microsoft and Sony will lose whatever is in the consoles you send in for repair as well unless you inform them.

If you buy a new wii they won't transfer over data from your old wii. They cannot at this time the manual confirms this. When they do a replacement then they transfer since those wiis would be speciality prepared likely lacking some parts or code that allows the transfer to take place.

It wasn't because of the fear of losing my Virtual Console data it was because I didn't want to lose my Everybody Votes data. They said because I was completely registered I had my choice of having a new Wii sent to me and everything carried over or sending my broken one in. I also confirmed with the representative on the phone that if I were to get a new Wii in the future I would follow the same scenario.
